Today, the NYS AFL-CIO, which represents 2.5 million union members, their families, and retirees, announced that it has endorsed the reelection of Congressman Charlie Rangel (NY-13).
NYS AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento said, “Throughout his service in the House of Representatives, Congressman Rangel has been the go-to guy for New York’s working families. Charlie Rangel has never wavered in his fight to secure crucial federal resources to support the priorities of middle class New Yorkers – education, health care, and job creation.”
“I am delighted and deeply honored to have the support of the AFL-CIO. It is truly humbling to have the respect and confidence of such an admirable organization,” said Congressman Rangel. “The ongoing efforts of the AFL-CIO on behalf of workers throughout New York State mirror my own relentless aspirations to champion those issues most important to our workforce. It is my hope that our endeavors in tandem will continue to uplift, inspire and create a climate of change.”
Cilento said, “As Dean of New York’s Delegation, Congressman Rangel has played a crucial role in countless victories for hard working New Yorkers. We will do all that we can to make sure our members know just how important it is to have Charlie Rangel’s leadership in Congress at this critical juncture for our state and our country.”
The NYS AFL-CIO represents approximately 45,000 working men and women in the 13th Congressional District.
