Albany, NY - The New York State AFL-CIO, representing 2.5 million union members, retirees, and their families, today announced the endorsement of Tim Kennedy in the April 30 special election for New York’s 26th Congressional District.

“We have great confidence that Tim Kennedy will fight hard for issues important to workers. As a State Senator, Tim stood up for workers by advancing legislation including Buy American Rock Salt, the roadway construction safety bill, and legislation that reduced the waiting period for striking workers to collect unemployment benefits,” said Mario Cilento, president of the New York State AFL-CIO.

“Now, more than ever, we need representatives, like Tim, who will give working people the voice we need in Washington,” Cilento added.

"Throughout my time in public service, my commitment to protecting working men and women has never wavered," said Senator Tim Kennedy. "I am honored to have the support of the New York State AFL-CIO and all the New Yorkers they represent. Organized labor is the backbone of our state and our country and as a member of Congress I will continue to support fair pay, good benefits, and the rights of all workers.”

There are more than 140,000 union members, retirees, and their families in the 26th Congressional District. The Union Movement will be educating and mobilizing them to ensure Tim Kennedy is victorious in the upcoming election.
