NYS AFL-CIO Announces Early Endorsements in Congressional Races and State Senate and Assembly Special Elections

Albany, NY – The 2.5 million member New York State AFL-CIO today announced early endorsements of candidates running in congressional races and in special elections for State Senate and Assembly.

The federation endorsed U.S. Representatives Daniel Donovan (R-NY 11), Carolyn Maloney (D-NY 12) and Joseph Crowley (D-NY 14) for reelection.

Mario Cilento, President of the New York State AFL-CIO, said, “All three of these candidates have proven track records of fighting for issues important to the middle class. We need them advocating on behalf of all New Yorkers to ensure working people have a strong voice in Washington. The labor movement is committed to working hard to get them reelected.”

The New York State AFL-CIO also endorsed candidates in the April 24, 2018 State Senate and Assembly Special Elections.

“We proudly support candidates committed to fighting for solid middle-class jobs and raising the standard of living of all working people,” said Cilento. “These candidates for State Senate and Assembly have demonstrated their commitment to those shared values.”

The New York State AFL-CIO is coordinating a grassroots campaign to educate members on labor’s position in all of these races and ensure members get to the polls and support those who support working people.
