NYS AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento Calls on US Senate Candidates to Act in Support of Striking Charter Spectrum Workers
Albany - "Over the last few days, elected officials across the state from Governor Andrew Cuomo to Public Advocate and Attorney General candidate Letitia “Tish” James have said enough is enough with regard to Charter Spectrum’s treatment of striking workers who belong to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 3," said Mario Cilento, President of the New York State AFL-CIO.
"These leaders have stood up and said they will not be complicit in this strike by continuing to participate in the company’s events. We commend them for standing with hardworking New Yorkers fighting for fair wages and benefits, and quite simply respect.
"We understand that Local 3 will be taking their fight to Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, host of the upcoming US Senate debate, set to air on Charter Spectrum channels across the state.
"We urge debate participants to respect the workers and their fight. It’s time for all elected and would-be elected officials to put workers first and do the right thing on behalf of those who are sacrificing so much for the good of all working people," Cilento said.
