Labor Feeds NY: A Week of Action Against Hunger

November 15-23, 2025

This November, more than 3 million New Yorkers are facing a hunger crisis. Between the rising costs of groceries and the disruption of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, working families across New York are at risk. The union movement will not stand by while our neighbors go hungry.

That’s why unions across New York are joining together for a statewide Week of Action. Labor Feeds New York: November 15th-23rd, 2025.

During this week, local labor federations, central labor councils and union members are encouraged to:

• Feed – Donate non-perishable food to local pantries and school-based food programs.
• Give – Contribute funds to hunger relief organizations making a difference in your community.
• Serve – Volunteer at soup kitchens, food banks, and community meal sites.

Every act of solidarity, large or small, can help make a difference for families in need this fall.

Capital District Area Labor Federation

Capital Region food distribution will take place on November 22nd, starting at 10 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis (9 different locations available). A press conference was held on November 13th to announce the initiative and call for labor volunteers at all 9 Northeast Regional Foodbank distribution locations. 

Central New York Area Labor Federation and Labor Councils

The Central New York Area Labor Federation will be holding a press conference on Nov 20th to announce monetary and food collection donations across multiple food pantries in the region. The NYSUT office in Vestal (305 W Vestal Pkwy, Vestal, NY 13850) and the CNYALF office (615 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY 13204) will also accept non-perishable food donations to deliver to food banks.

Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation

November 24th: Dutchess CLC/ CWA 1120 Food Drop Off at the Union Hall: 157 Van Wagner Rd, Poughkeepsie NY 12603. Time: 4:30-6pm. RSVP on Mobilize.

Recurring Weekdays from 11/14-12/12: NALC 137 Food Drop Off at the Branch Office: NALC Branch 137 843 Union Ave, New Windsor, NY 12553. RSVP on Mobilize.

Recurring Weekdays from 11/18-12/15: Upper Hudson CLC Food Drop Off at NYSUT in Kingston: 201 Stockade Dr, Kingston, NY 12401. RSVP on Mobilize.

Long Island Federation of Labor

Long Island Federation of Labor held an emergency drive-through food drive on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 11:00am-2:00pm with Island Harvest and will continue to support Island Harvest. 

New York City Central Labor Council

New York City Central Labor Council recommends and encourages support for the following hunger assistance programs and is actively working with affiliates. 

Northeast Central Labor Council

Northeast Regional Food Bank food distribution will take place on November 22, starting at 10 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis at the locations listed below. Please click on the link to find a volunteer opportunity.

Rochester and Genesee Valley Area Labor Federation

The RGVALF and affiliates will be accepting donations at the following locations: UAW Local 1097, 221 Dewey Ave; Federation of Social Workers, 740 Driving Park Ave Suite A; and the Rochester Labor Council, 30 N Union St Suite 303; now through the end of November. 

Westchester Putnam Central Labor Body

Western New York Area Labor Federation

Many Fights, One Table: WNYALF will host 2 weeks of regional food collection at various union halls and community partners. A fundraiser for FeedMore WNY, a food pantry distributor, will be held concurrently with a goal of raising $10,000. More info at wnyalf.org/hunger.
