NEW YORK - "For decades the New York State AFL-CIO has pursued a legislative strategy to secure the same rights for farmworkers that all other classifications of workers currently enjoy including the right to organize. We applaud the NYCLU for bringing this important issue to the forefront and we appreciate the fact Governor Cuomo and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman recognize the injustice in the labor law. We need to stop treating farmworkers as second class citizens. They deserve to be treated fairly and with dignity and respect," said Mario Cilento, President New York State AFL-CIO.
