NYS AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento Congratulates the WNBPA on Historic Contract

On behalf of the 2.5 million members of the New York State AFL-CIO, I congratulate the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) for securing a landmark contract that rightly reflects the players' extraordinary talent and invaluable contributions to the WNBA.

The players held their ground under the steadfast leadership of WNBPA Executive Director Terri Carmichael Jackson and President Nneka Ogwumike, whose dedication was instrumental in achieving this historic agreement on a new contract.

I’m also very proud of our affiliates who supported the players, which helped to send a powerful message that when working people stand together, their collective voices will be heard.
