Albany, NY – The New York State AFL-CIO, representing 2.5 million union members, retirees, and their families, and 3,000 local unions throughout the state, today announced its endorsement of Kathy Hochul for Governor and Tish James for New York State Attorney General.

"I am proud to announce that the New York State AFL-CIO Executive Council voted to endorse Kathy Hochul and Tish James for reelection," said Mario Cilento, president of the New York State AFL-CIO.

"Throughout her career in public service, Kathy Hochul has been a steadfast champion for working people. She understands that having a strong union movement is the best way to help build the middle class and a better state for all New Yorkers.

“In addition, at a time when the administration in Washington is putting the agenda of billionaires before the needs of working families, Governor Hochul has boldly fought back every step of the way. She is exactly the leader we need to move our state forward.

“As Attorney General, Tish James has never shied away from protecting New Yorkers against the onslaught of attacks from the Trump administration. She has passionately fought back on behalf of all working people to ensure they have the support they need and deserve.

“And we all know when Tish fights, she wins.

“The New York State AFL-CIO will be educating, engaging, and mobilizing our 2.5 million members from now through election day to ensure a victory for Kathy Hochul and Tish James,” Cilento said.
