New York State AFL-CIO Announces Endorsement of Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and Endorsements in Congressional, State Senate, and Assembly Races with Primary Elections
Albany, NY - Today, the 2.5 million member New York State AFL-CIO announced the endorsement of New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli in his bid for re-election as well as endorsements of candidates running in primary races for Congress and New York State Senate and Assembly.
Mario Cilento, President of the New York State AFL-CIO, said, “We make these endorsements with great confidence that these candidates have a deep understanding of the issues that matter most to working people and will fight hard to help grow the middle class.
“Tom DiNapoli has consistently acted in the best interest of working people as Comptroller. He is an excellent steward of the common retirement fund for public employees and has repeatedly leveraged his shareholder position to advocate for positive labor relations and workers' rights. Tom is honest, genuine, forthright, and a true supporter of the union movement,” Cilento said.
“As State Comptroller, I fight for working people and stand with the labor unions that represent them,” said New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. “This endorsement by the New York State AFL-CIO is the strongest validation that I am the candidate to champion the needs of our state’s working families. I am honored to have earned the strong support of the Union Movement,” DiNapoli said.
The State Federation has been educating, engaging, and mobilizing union members to ensure a victory for all its endorsed candidates.
The remainder of the endorsements will take place at the New York State AFL-CIO’s Committee on Political Education (COPE) Convention in August.
