Labor’s Powerful Grassroots Campaign Produces Big Victories for Working Men and Women

Albany – Union members are celebrating after Labor’s candidates overwhelmingly won their races. New York State AFL-CIO president Mario Cilento thanked union members in a video last night.

“The collective voice of working people was heard loud and clear. Labor’s grassroots campaign all across the state produced victories across the board in Congressional, state legislative and the statewide races,” said Cilento.

“I could not be prouder of our members throughout the state who got involved in these races early on never letting up until the races were over.”

The New York State AFL-CIO logged 4 million voter contacts through knocking on doors, targeted digital messaging, phone calls, mail pieces, palm cards and emails to union members on the importance of having elected officials who will fight to keep New York State Union Strong.

“Our members recognized the value in giving up precious time with their families after work and on weekends to be actively involved in these races. They understood what was at stake long term. They knew that by standing together and electing leaders who will protect workers’ rights and grow the middle class, all working men and women will benefit,” Cilento said.
