Manhattan, NY - Today, the 2.5 million member New York State AFL-CIO announced endorsements of candidates running for Congress, State Senate and Assembly.

The endorsements were made at the state federation’s 34th Constitutional Convention at the Sheraton NY Times Square Hotel in New York City. Members representing unions from the public sector, private sector, and building trades played a crucial role in the process, from candidate screening interviews to the ultimate endorsement votes at the Convention.

Mario Cilento, President of the New York State AFL-CIO, said, “We fully support these candidates and are confident in their commitment to champion the issues that affect the lives and economic stability of working individuals. We are eager to launch a grassroots campaign to mobilize our members and ensure the election of all our endorsed candidates.

“From the emergence of artificial intelligence to the threats outlined in Project 2025, the stakes have never been higher for unions, their members, and all working people.  The first part in safeguarding them and growing our movement is electing the right people to office,” Cilento said.

Earlier this year, the state federation endorsed the passage of Proposal One - the New York State Equal Rights Amendment, US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and several candidates in primary elections.
