New York State AFL-CIO Endorses Mannion
Albany, NY - The New York State AFL-CIO, representing 2.5 million union members, retirees, and their families today announced the endorsement of John Mannion in his run for New York’s 22nd Congressional District.
“John Mannion understands the value of working people and the benefits of belonging to a union having served as a union leader himself while a teacher in Central New York,” said Mario Cilento, president of the New York State AFL-CIO.
“As a State Senator, Mannion fought for the creation of good-paying union jobs and funding for education, health care, and other vital services. He also recognizes the importance of making the recruitment and retention of public employees a priority.
“We have great confidence that John will fight hard for issues important to workers. Now, more than ever, we need representatives, like John, who will give working people the voice we need in Washington,” Cilento said.
Sen. John Mannion said, “As a longtime labor leader and member, I am so proud to have earned the endorsement of the New York State AFL-CIO in my campaign for Congress. Having spent eight years managing contract negotiations, arbitration, and fighting for our members, I know how important it is to protect the right to organize. From fair wages and paid family leave, to affordable healthcare and quality education, I'll work tirelessly in Congress to deliver for working families across Central New York and the Mohawk Valley."
There are more than 140,000 union members, retirees, and their families in the 22nd Congressional District. The Union Movement will be educating and mobilizing them to ensure John Mannion is victorious in the upcoming election.
